Hemolytic Anemia was the next in line, symptom fit wise. The article gives excellent info. As bad a prognosis the article gives, Jess's experience has been even worse. The speed that Holly's body was destroying her red blood cells was a big red flag. Jess was somewhat surprised with jut how low Holly's rbc was thi morning, and her white blood cell count was very high. Due to the rbc the net course, no matter the diagnosis, would be a transfusion. At the rate Holly's body is destroying the rbc's the new ones wouldn't last any longer. Jess said that, in her heart and experience, she believes that it wouldn't matter what we did or how much money was spent, Holly would end up suffering and wouldn't survive anyway. She is going to do a necropsy, free. Another possibility is cancer. Sometimes even a necropsy isn't able to pinpoint a cause, but there is a good chance at finding out. We shall see.

So sorry to hear. Things sometimes escalate so quickly. You did everything you could.

I'm so so sorry about you losing Holly. It sounds like you did what was best for her and she didn't suffer long. You have had such a hard time lately. Know that we are here for you.

I wish I could hear something about the necropsy soon, but the fact that it's free I'm not going to push! If I haven't heard anything by mid week I'll ask if she's had a chance to do it yet. I forgot to get Holly's collar and leash (I keep wanting to say lead rope) so I do need to pick those up. Here are the pics I promised. This was when I was taking her back to the clinic on Wed. she still looked much better, no facial swelling and her eyes were bright. Not having any interest in food was the issue. I'm also adding pics of when I first brought her home Tues and Jordan was happy to see her. I worry about Jordan now. He and Holly have been together the last 3+ years; eat, sleep, 24/7. This is the first time Jordan has been alone in all that time. I don't think running out to get another dog would be a good idea, not sure Jordan would react well. The best I can do is keep an eye on him and spend as much time together as possible. If you have any ideas, I would love to hear them.

I think I would just spend as much time as possible with Jordan. He will be confused for a bit about where Holly is but he will adjust. No, I don't think running out to get another pet would be good for him or you. Give yourself some time to grieve and heal from the last few months.

Honestly, getting another dog is the last thing I want to do. It was just a thought that passed through my mind for Jordan. The moment I thought it, I knew it didn't feel right. It seems like my brain is either spinning or not working at all, mostly the not working. It really is nice to be able to come here, thank you.

I finally got the necropsy report. The full final diagnosis is Fibrinosuppurative Valvular Endocarditis. I'll post the full report so anyone curious can learn about it. I search the whole thing to discover endocarditis covers it pretty thoroughly. It is almost always bacterial with the usual cause bad dental care. The bacteria in the mouth get into the bloodstream, carried to the heart. It can be due to an injury, infection. I remembered Dr Jess saying Holly's mouth was in god shape and there had been no injury/infection. I asked and Jess said that is why she didn't suspect it being a heart issue. We don't know how the bacteria got to Holly's heart. Jess commented that I do bring in the unusual/rare. Lucky me. Definitely need to get no new animals, I seem to be dangerous.

Hard to believe it's been this long. I do need to catch up, here and more happenings. Poor Zeus (cat) needed total ear ablations on both ears. That needs a thread to cover that procedure! I've got to get Jordan that companion. I do believe he's lonely, also very bored. I want him to keep his mind and body active. I have started looking.

I am sorry you are going thru all this. and a dog does look for someone to play with. look at a shelter or perhaps lab rescues. there are so many good dogs even on craigs list. just look the right one will jump out at you and yes the cat needs it's own thread.

Usually I am there, it's just after losing Sky I was just too raw. I really think it's taking me this long to get Jordan a companion, because it hurts to think about letting another animal in. Maybe not hurt, maybe more like scared. I'm keeping my options open.
