This is one of two first horses we bought. Had him for 11 years since he was only 8 months old. He is such a baby with me. Very protective over me, although only me and my dad can ride him. He does not like be in contact with other people. On the outside people see him as a naughty horse. But on the insade he is a big teddy bear. Love him very much <3
He is stunning. and the stallions do pick out who they will love and trust. I had my arabian stallion that would act up all the time. and if i were near him he would calm down and mind his manners. he also did everything he could to please me. fetch a stick. like a dog. groom my hair when i was grooming him. bow and yawn on command. love those stallions but need to raise them from a youngster to have that trust and affection.
Oh Lipizzan he is stunning. And I just love how he is obedient and caring to you and your dad, we all know now if we hadn't known before what a testimony that is. It is such an honor to earn an animal's trust. Gerald and his daddy had relationships like that with a couple of their horses. And I'm privileged to say that I have that with Peaches and Coda
Do you have other pictures of him? What is his name?

He is just stunning! I don't think stallions are really all that much different than say a mare. Some mares are moody and nasty and only respond to one person or a few people; stallions can be the same way. It's all in how they are raised, especially when they are young.
He is little bit different because he is breeding stallion he have maybe 10-11 mares a year. So that is affecting his moods sometimes. His name is Conversano Canissa. He is almost 11 years old, until age of four belive it or not he was black horse, we always believed he will stay dark, but after age 4 he started to let go his dark hairs and grey grew. So he is now in a age when most Lipizzans are white as , but he is still more grey that white.

He is more than stunning Lip.... He is what is a classic Lipizzaner!!
Regal, elegant, keen mind, refined in looks yet a heavy bone that can carry heavier loads and work hard. Your stallion is loyal and obedient because you taught him that way to be. Breeding stallion or not, he respects you and your dad. He is also rewarded for his proper behavior by your actions and handling of him. You gained his trust and he gave you his heart and trust in return....
I can see many wanting to breed to such a horse.... I sure would if I had a mare worthy of him... ...
My folks got to watch the Lipizzans in Austria and I got to see them at our Minnesota State Fair. This is such a treat to get "this close" to them and their owner. Goosebumps! Gerald and Coda are coming into town so I'll get to show them this I know Gerald will be impressed don't know about Coda ;-)

There is something about jumping a horse over a fence, something that makes you feel good. Perhaps it's the risk, the gamble. In any event it's a thing I need.

Thank you diamond, mustang and Shelly It means a lot to me that you like him like I do

Lip.... Not far from where I live, think jcclark is not to far away either, is home to Hermann's Royal Lipizzaner Stallions. Their "home" base and training facility, possibly their breeding aspect too.
Exhibitions here are free to those who want to watch. Bring a chair and sit ringside, watch a training session or the practice for a upcoming show they will be doing. They will answer some questions as they can and explain what they are doing.
I had the opportunity to apply for a job working at this place not to long ago....unfortunately, it is to far from my home for a everyday commute and to make a living wage. Regretfully, I passed on the invitation to work for them. I would have loved the opportunity to work with such animals and learn how and why things are done as they are.
As a child I was given a "pony-ride" by Gabrielle Hermann on one of their stallions performing at a fair in Connecticut. I was a young child, but think that started my love of the breed even at that age. Then years later, one of my riding instructors had a Lipizzaner gelding as a school horse...I rode him once. He was more horse than was safe for me to ride...but I do remember it!!
HL4L you brought a tear to my eye. When I was really little, maybe 5 or 6, I got to meet a Lipizzan. Even thought I was absolutely horse crazy, and loved all horses, even then, I knew that horse was different. I was sure he had to be magic. I still remember, my Dad taking me up close to him so I could get a better look. I was sure he had to have wings.
All horses are beautiful, but Lipizzaner's are just a little bit magic too. I am sure Conversano Canissa, is a little bit magic. I keep looking to see where his wings are hidden.
Lip you look like a Princess riding her magic stallion.
I absolutely LOVE that first picture of you riding Conversano Canissa. He is magnificent! smileys-hearts-532620
I have gotten to see the Royal Lipizzaner Stallions perform on 2 separate occasions, and it was such a magical experience each time. Like everyone else here, I'm horse crazy, and I love all horses, but there is just something extra special and magical about Lipizzans. I can only dream of being able to ride one, but you get to live the dream. Awesome!
When the lippizzan show was coming to the albany area i was all eager to go. so i called the ticket master and told the nice operator that my hubby rode alot and his passion was to see the horses up close and personal. she gave me the seat numbers and off we went 4 of us. to the arena. As we entered the ticket area. my tickets were handed to a guide. and he just looked at us kinda weird. but we followed him. allllll the way down to an enclosed area with velvet ropes. he opened those ropes and we sat on front row on the floor of the arena. as the horses came around you can smell them. and feel the sweat drip on our faces as they passed by. what an awesome feeling to hear their hearts beat and hear their footfalls all in tempo. i will never forget seeing the marks on their skin. they were all grey/white. and the riders were all astounding horsepersons. And i too was waiting to see their wings . like magic.
Wow guys. Your words just make me appreciate my horses even more. You made my heart beat faster. It is so sad that in my country they are not so cherished. Part with the wings is absolutely beautiful, I agree 100% , they are magical. I wish I could give them even more. They deserve royal treatment. Maybe one day. H4l, I am sorry you could not make you dream job work. If you ever, ever any of you one day wish to come to Croatia for holliday, you are all more then welcome to come and ride my horses.:-)
"...God forbid that I go to heaven where there is no my horse to welcome me..."
