yea I could see where in the area I could get that checked. Right now they are on round bales, its a timothy, alfalfa and trefoil mix I believe. We have been using the same hay guy for the last 10 years lol but never got it tested. I'll definitely look into that though! thanks

Try hay replacer or get some straight grass hay if you can. Worth a try at this point.

Ya changing hay for us is not an option sadly. We have some hard keepers in the heard and we feed rounds. Good quality hay is hard to find in the area so I wouldn't want to change and end up short at the end of the year. Personally I'm not convinced it's the protein overload but more of the whole lack of movement. And yes I agree it's great that she's asking around and looking into it further! I know my other vet wasn't willing to so I'm glad I made the switch.

Sound like he just needs to be hooked up to a sleigh and taken for grocery shopping ,, as for a treat broken pieces of bread will keep him busy and he might enjoy the taste.
