I don't know about everywhere else, but gas prices seem to be really dropping around here but not so much the diesel prices. Someone told me it was because of the elections that are being held around this time.
I'm just curious as to what others are paying for gas/diesel (not farm use diesel - road vehicle diesel).
By me, gas is about US $2.59/gallon and diesel is US $3.33/gallon.

I'll take yours...here in Central Florida at the local Sunoco regular is $2.73 a gallon cash or credit same price. Still going down.... Diesel is more but not sure of $ as I don't buy it...usually though about $.25 more per gallon.
On Long Island last my mom told me it was still about $.25 more a gallon for regular and this is CASH ONLY price or add anywhere from $.08 - $.22 more per gallon... My sister in New Jersey pays about what I am paying and by her they pump the gas/fuel by law in all vehicles for you....
Price drop has some to do with elections approaching again and candidates getting ducks in a row... It also has to do with the fact that the economy as it recovers some if they taper the billions in profit for a little while the gas companies make they will actually sell more product... And it has to do with the middle east pumping more crude, pipelines not being sabotaged or breaking and the fact that other supplies have now been added to the system so there is more product available. As our area of the world recovers financially, other areas that use huge amounts of petroleum are not doing so good and with that their demand is less and that puts more in storage. There actually is no reason for even these prices... in the oil rich middle east gas, refined and pumped is only about $.46 cents per gallon or liter I understand.... It all comes down to who will benefit and line their pockets with the most money...most of your politicians making decisions about our lifestyles are heavily connected to oil.... so if they want to buy your vote they make prices go down and throw, "Look what we did"...when in fact, look what they did and how much they have hurt the economy by charging such ridiculous prices and reaping those profits for so many years. The experts all say there is no reason why oil is $$$$, and gas either. That and make those that play the stock market pay for their oil barrels they buy then and there, not on a credit account system that kills us the consumer. Again, if they had to immediately pay hundreds for a barrel the profit margin would shrink considerably and vast amounts of oil would be on the market not stuck in limbo where we get caught over and over and over again as the end consumer..... and the oil companies and their shareholders reap BILLIONS in profit every quarter {that is 3 months time-frame} paid to them..... on & off our working backs. Do remember that when you next vote....our representatives with their greed nearly destroyed this nation and much of the world not long ago...
Do some research about your representatives, who and what they have large investments in and who the lobbyists are backing...and who reaps $$$$ from that.
jmo and what I have found when making myself "informed"...

nah, not likely anything to do with your elections as gas is down here too.
What really makes me laugh EVERY summer there are articles about summer has nothing to do with raise in prices. Yet it happens each year and drops again around October.

Gas is about $2.83 here and diesel is $3.63- Usually this time of year the refineries are switching diesel over to winter blend so there is a shortage for a time and then the price is going to drop. Add to that the farmers in the fields for harvest (at least in my area) and they price gouge diesel because they know more trucks will be on the road as well as tractors.

I don't know why you think there is a gas shortage.... You really believe that? There is enough product in the tank farm storage areas for 6 months minimum to supply the entire country. That doesn't include the federal governments strategic gas and diesel supply storage tanks either... I know for a fact that when we have had "Gas Shortages" in the past, the barges were lined up and COULD NOT unload their product as every tank on Long Island, NYC surrounding areas & New Jersey was filled to max capacity, what was happening by me was happening throughout the country...it is a ploy to raise prices. I had a window that looked out on the harbor where the barges of heating oil and gasoline unloaded....they were lined up 3 wide and as far as I could see. That was a few years ago, but no different now than then. And yes, time of the year when people travel for vacations & holidays they also prey on all of us raising $$ again and again. Diesel, same stuff going on...and we still pay as the truckers need to charge more as their expenses are more. My neighbor is a trucker with his own rig...I nearly threw up when he showed me what his fuel cost was for 1 month...and that was a quiet traveling month for him...ouch!
Amazingly when Super-Storm Sandy attacked much of the east coast, it was not a shortage by any means that created long lines but not having power to pump...there was more product available than they could use...and that storm took how many refineries out of use for quite some time while repairs were made...and still there was NO shortage of product at all.
My BIL use to work for a oil refining company....he just clarified the information when I asked the questions back then. Just another way to get your $$ out of the pocket...
I don't believe or trust my or anyones politicians anymore to tell the truth and not be in real deep with oil money lobbyists... they line their pockets at your expense and mine. Sad isn't it...those we vote into office to represent us do so very poorly. If their vote can be bought, the temptation sure is placed in front of them. To many have their votes bought lately it seems.... wag finger Dig some, do some research and find what lobbyist group is spending hundreds of thousands one way or the other to get what is in their best interest. All or most of it in the politicians voting power...I am not so gullible anymore, nor do I believe what is being "fed to us" as I have gotten older.. jmo of course and all are entitled to their own ideas and opinions.

Gas here is 2.73 and diesel is 3.49. Diesel is the last part of the crude oil in making gasoline and fuel. But yet because the trucking and railroad transportation depends on it they pay the highest cost. But yet the oil companies are making million dollar profits.. Talk about gouging!!
When I was in Md heating oil was outrages. So we took a 55 gallon drum and bought diesel at the pumps a lot cheaper. We pumped it into the oil tank. Oil company told us it was because it had an additive in it so it wouldn't gel up. Well for a few dollars you could go to Walmart and by the gel preventative and put in in yourself.

Gas here is $2.90 a gallon. I don't know what diesel fuel is. I wonder why our get is a little higher than yours. I heard on the news that gas was a little higher elsewhere. Hmmm, I guess not.
I get tired of paying the high prices, to pad the pockets, of the oil companies, so I do my best to drive no more than I have to.

Gas tonight by me dropped again, now $2.69 a gallon for regular.... Last spring the "experts" were saying that gas should get to below numbers we had not seen in several years...guess that is happening now...will have to see how long though the prices go down and remain steady.
My understanding is across the nation it is highest in California other than Alaska.
Gas prices I found when driving between Florida and Long Island were cheapest in Virginia, south end of the state think it was... Guess the addition of all the state, local county and any other taxes must change it quite a bit....

I just paid $2.59/gallon for gas last night, but at a gas station in another town my hubby paid $2.79 for gas on the same night.
I don't know what diesel prices are here.
