Also, are you sure he gets 5mg of pred twice a day? That seems like quite a lot! George was getting 5mg once a day. He weighs 6.87kg and they gave him a fairly high dose as it was for the cancer. 10mg/day seems like a lot...

Oh? That's the directions on the container. I didn't know to ask. I don't want to second guess the vet, but I will certainly ask when I report in first thing Monday! There were several people there, in the office when I picked Rocky up. A lady with a 4 month old Siamese (mix but got all the color) with URI we think. Gunk coming out of her nose and labored breathing. Talk about one kitty that looked miserable! A puppy was brought in that had been chewing on a bar of rat poison! Pup got rushed in, vet said he got him to vomit and there were solid pieces in it. That is good since it didn't look like much digestion was happening yet. She, the owner, was on the phone with her landlord to find out the exact kind of poison. I hope puppy and kitty are okay.

Also ask about if you should taper the pred off, since it's a steroid we've always been told never to just stop cold turkey but taper it off. George was on 5mg/day, but since it's making him diabetic we have to taper it off over the next 3 weeks or so. So we're down to 2.5mg/day this week (half a tablet), then 1/4 tablet next week. Then 1/4 tablet every other day the week after. The dose they gave you may be perfect for his weight and condition, but I'd definitely double check, and check about the tapering off :)
Poor kitty and puppy. 2 of the vets were in surgery on Tuesday when I took George and they removed a dog's spleen cause it was full of tumours. Then I heard them say it's most likely cancer and they think it's spread :(

I sure appreciate the heads up on what to be aware of and questions to ask! After a good nap and some fresh air Rocks seems a little better. He ate some, including the pills (in pill pockets). He then proceeded to hop up in my lap for cuddles. cat When I needed to get up to feed horses, it seemed like a great chance for pics. He did seem to have more issue with the flash than before, but... Oh, he has not puked since coming home. A few sneezes, but no puke!
