Well I would hope that you keep them hips in privacy.... But seriously. You need to start over. You need to learn to relax at a walk. Sit on your horse then just relax your body and kind of sit down in your saddle. As your horse walks move with him from the waist down, keeping your upper body in line with your hip and heel.( where chair comes in) Once you learn to relax. You will feel your horse and you will feel each leg he moves. Once you become one with him, your fears will slowly go away. Then you can increase your speed. BTW I have ridden western all my life. And yes I have done some mountain riding and Ye Hawing. And I have used that horn for various reason's. It is a tool.. It will also break fingers....

I found a better instructor/trainer!!!!! Good news is that she's within 5 miles of my home in Solway, the bad news is that I can only be home once a week Yesterday I played with her mustang Brownie. She's a dun, 14h and pins her ears when you do ground work, particularly in-hand which kinda cracks me up because it looks like she's all crotchety but wouldn't hurt a fly. She is such a fun horse to play with, an excellent teacher. And it was sooooo coooold! She listened and understands and has a much better plan for me. This time I'll be able to go from comfort level to comfort level. I don't appreciate being pushed because I can do that myself and I do! This other instructor seemed to believe that since I was a good rider but was nervous that I pussed out and didn't try. NO! She didn't seem to get that I'M HARDLY EVER HOME TO RIDE, THAT'S WHY I'M TAKING LESSONS. Sheesh.

Thanks for the support, you guys. I just love thinking about horses and practicing in my mind, since I can't always in "real life" and I can bore Gerald all to death Guys don't always get it. Another good bit of news! I finally figured out how to crochet a hat! I'll show you as soon as I get my phone/camera fixed. The first 1000 times I tried the yard I used had a wavy pattern which made figuring out one stitch from the other was nearly impossible. Then it turned out like one of those Little House on the Prairie bonnets ~ ick. So I bought plain yarn today and am half way done already! No ripping out at all! Wow, never buying that fancy yarn again.

I was following your postings about riding lessons. It seems you may have found a teacher more in tune with you, good!
We will have to talk crocheting/knitting! I am midway working on fingerless gloves.

I thought two skeins ought to be enough.... nope! Went back to the store and *no more* rats! WalMart carries the same brand but they didn't have the color either so I bought 4 skeins of grey yarn and when I got to the checkout there were folks standing a dozen deep in every available checkout line, grrr. I walked out BUT the good news is that I can make the hat now and it doesn't take very long. I've wanted a hat with a brim for years and years.

My mom used to make a hat every time she went to see my dad in the rehab home. after one was done she would know she spent enough time there. needless to say she has about 50 hats, good for you for making the hat of your dreams. and next time the cashiers are full go to sporting goods. to check out.

I didn't think of sporting goods, I went over to the deli but it was closed. That hat timer is a good idea! Oh and I met a lady at WalMart who was also looking at yarn for a hat. She showed me this yarn that was patterned in such a way that it made the stripes for you without changing yarn. I would of bought some but it was black and white or red and white and I'd like a more subtle pattern. Changing yarn isn't difficult if you have a simply pattern like I do.

Vanna white from wheel of fortune puts out her own yarn. mom loved it. a little pricey but worth the extra monies.
and i carry wall mart phone number in my phone if i need assistance or need a cashier i just call them up and speak to the operator and than listen for them to contact a sales associate.

Ta DAAAH! Here I am finally sun Like I said in the weightloss thread, I was using my neighbor's wireless but they put a password on it now So... I've had to work too many hours to take another lesson. In fact Terry called me last night and wondered where I was! That was a nice touch. There is a gal here in TRF who gives lessons but only at 3.15 M, T and W for beginners, intermediate and advanced. I work 10 hr days so that just doesn't work for me at all. And since I have to work Mondays until the end of January, no lessons for a while. BUT I did have a kind of adventure with Ziggy this past Sunday. Now I do ride pretty well but my imagination runs away with me and instead of paying attention to what is, I worry about what may be! Well, Gerald insisted on leading Ziggy and because she is such a reactive kind of horse I wanted to be in the corral. This means that in order to get on bareback (which was stupid but I did it anyway) I climbed up the fence, turned around, leaned against Ziggy until I could hoick my leg over and climb on. Now the good news; Ziggy stood as still as a person could want! Isn't that wonderful? Isn't she just a good girl? We walked a circle and about 1/2 way I got nervous, my imagination was in high gear so I said, "I gotta get off" and as soon as I did, I felt just fine. So I walked over to the fence, climbed up, Ziggy came over, I got on and all was good. So far. Until... I got nervous again and said that I wanted to get off. Gerald didn't want me to, said he was calming Ziggers and it was all fine. Well, it didn't seem fine to me! So again I said, I want to get off. Then Gerald got all pissy, Ziggy started getting agitated and I bailed. "HOW DARE YOU GET MAD AT ME FOR BEING SCARED!" It would of been just fine if I had gotten off, calmed down, walked Ziggy over and done that as many times as I needed to do it. But Gerald has this idea that I don't need to be nervous and he is in control. Well, honey, I don't care WHO you are, you can't control a horse with a rope. After I came out of the bedroom later that night Gerald said that its not a good idea for him to help me any more. Not if you're gonna get mad at me and all controlling it ain't! Now in my humble opinion I came away with more confidence in my riding because even though I was nervous, I didn't bobble in the least. Even though getting on Ziggy using a fence was clumsy as heck, I was perfectly fine with it, when in the past it would of spooked me and probably Ziggy too. Now that we have a couple feel of , I think I'll feel okay to ride in the pasture or one of the corrals by myself. Gerald is still there to look for the body so I don't have to worry about being left for the crows. And I think its a good lesson for Ziggy for me to get on and off, if that's what I need. But these next times I'll bring a saddle with me. I would ride Buster bareback, but I think the extra security is worth the trouble.
