The barn owner sent me a text saying that Ziggy did well on her assessment. Don't know what that means, hoping to get more detail on that but it does mean they're starting working with her. They tack the training horses up and work 'em throughout the day on and off. Then the give the horse the weekend to let the lessons "sink in". Its a pretty nice place, trees and automatic waterers in the corrals, which are pretty large. Next week I'll be home until I leave for TX around July 7th. So we can go visit and see for ourselves. Exciting stuff.

Wait, does this mean you decided to take the TX job? Glad to hear Ziggy is settling in and doing well already.

I don't know if I'll go to Abilene or Anoka, MN! I have another thread on that.

Even though we were all wilting this weekend I decided to see what the Peach and I could do. Get this, picked up all four feet without ANY resistence! I definitely gave her a big hug and all kinds of kisses. She probably didn't know what the fuss was all about.
We walked away from the other horses No Problem HURRAY! What a good memory and more confidence for sure. I am so proud of my freaky little girl. But even though we just walked around the trailer she was none too happy. She got scare the last time.
Now I should have kept at it around there just on the edge of her comfort zone but I somehow thought it better to take her completely away and work on whoa and change of direction, which she did with full attention on me. However because she was so agitated she chose a gallop. I wanted her to walk when we were near the trailer but she was too uppity and I didn't want to work her hard in the heat. Then she worked hard anyway. Dang!
I think I should of stayed on line within eyeshot of the trailer and worked at slowing her down, don't you? Hopefully this coming weekend is cooler.

Well by now you know, Ziggy did fine, she got her way but the trainer didn't do too well. But it was a good learning experience... that's what we say when we get screwed over, right?! ThankyouAnd as inspiration from Zippy's mom, I brought all of my Hunt, Dorrance and the other Rashid books I could find from home to my apartment so I'll have some nice bedtime stories. I bet in retrospect this all will be seen as a turning point for the better. I feel calmer about horses and training, which is a big deal, although I'm also 250 miles away! The other day I drove over to a nearby stables to check things out and all of a sudden I got so nervous! Weird. I am my own worst enemy. And that too shall pass... over time.
